I find five hours a week in your business, or you don’t pay.

Most small businesses lose a day a week to work nobody chose to do — the same quote written for the fourth time, the job sheet typed in again as an invoice, the follow-up nobody got round to. I spend 45 minutes finding exactly where it goes, then show you what to do about it.

No pitch on the call. You keep the report either way.

£499, once. Full refund if the audit doesn’t identify at least five hours a week. That’s the whole risk, and it’s mine.
How it works

Three steps, about a week end to end.

STEP ONE

A 45-minute conversation

We go through an ordinary week in your business. Not strategy — the actual week. What lands in your inbox, who chases what, which job gets done twice, what you’ve been meaning to sort out for two years.

STEP TWO

You get a written report

What each thing is costing you in hours and money, what fixes it, what the fix costs, and which order to do it in. Real tools with real prices, not a list of things you could theoretically automate.

STEP THREE

You decide what happens

We walk through it together for half an hour. Then you either take the report and do it yourself, or I build it for you. Genuinely fine either way — the report is yours regardless.

The audit
£499

One payment. No retainer, no subscription, nothing recurring.

If it doesn’t find you at least five hours a week, you get all of it back. I’d rather refund you than have you tell people it wasn’t worth it.

Book a call
  • A 45-minute discovery call
  • A written report on where your time and money leak out
  • Costed fixes, ranked by impact against effort
  • A four-day plan to get the first one running
  • A 30-minute call to go through it
Who it’s for

This works for some businesses and not others.

Worth saying plainly, because a guarantee I can’t keep helps neither of us. It comes down to whether there’s enough repetitive work to be worth removing.

A good fit

  • Owner-run, roughly 3–25 staff
  • Enquiries, quotes and bookings all handled by a person
  • The same information typed into two different systems
  • Chasing — invoices, quotes that went quiet, no-shows
  • Nobody in-house who could automate any of it
  • Lettings, trades, clinics, recruitment, hire, brokers

Not a fit

  • Sole traders — not enough volume for the guarantee to hold
  • Anyone with an IT person or a developer already
  • Software and marketing agencies — you’d do this yourself
  • Large firms where this needs three approvals
  • Anyone wanting a chatbot bolted onto a website
Who’s doing it

I build things and put them live.

I’m Josh McArthur. I’m based in Jersey, and I’d rather show you what I’ve shipped than describe myself with adjectives. A lot of people selling “AI services” have never actually put anything into production.

Built & deployed

An autonomous AI agent

Persistent memory, scheduled jobs, several models behind one interface, running on its own server and talking to me on my phone. Built solo, start to finish.

Built & deployed

A production web app

A full operations dashboard with its own database, background jobs, live API integrations and push notifications. In daily use, not a demo.

The point

Which is why the audit is honest

Knowing what it actually takes to build something is what stops a report recommending things that sound clever and never ship. Most of what I’ll suggest is unglamorous and works.

Jersey

Why this is different on a small island.

Automation advice written for a mainland company with a hundred staff doesn’t survive contact with a Jersey business. The constraints here aren’t the same ones, so the answers aren’t either.

You can’t just hire another pair of hands

On the mainland the answer to too much admin is usually an extra administrator. Here that decision runs into a small labour market and the cost of housing someone, so the work lands back on the owner instead. Removing the work is often the only lever you actually have.

Your systems weren’t built for Jersey

Most off-the-shelf software assumes UK VAT, mainland postcodes and next-day delivery. So people work around it by hand — GST added manually, addresses retyped, shipping quoted in a separate spreadsheet. That workaround is usually one of the biggest hours on the list.

Reputation travels faster than advertising

On an island this size most work arrives by word of mouth, which makes slow replies and forgotten follow-ups expensive in a way they aren’t in a bigger market. Answering enquiries quickly and consistently is worth more here than any campaign.

Working with owner-run businesses across the island — St Helier, St Brelade, St Saviour, St Clement, St Peter, Grouville, Trinity and the rest of the twelve parishes. In person if you’re local, over video if that’s easier. Also available to businesses in Guernsey and the UK.

Questions

The ones people actually ask.

Couldn’t I just do this with ChatGPT?

For some of it, honestly, yes — and if that’s what the report says, that’s what it says. The part you can’t do with ChatGPT is the diagnosis: knowing which of the fifteen annoying things in your week is actually costing you money, which fix will still be running in six months, and what order to do them in. That comes from looking at your business, not from a prompt.

What if the audit doesn’t find anything?

Then you get your £499 back in full, and you keep the report. Some businesses are genuinely already tight, and some are too small for the numbers to work — that’s exactly why the guarantee exists. I’d rather refund you than talk you into something.

Is this going to mean replacing staff?

Almost never, and that’s not what I look for. In a business this size the problem is usually the opposite — the people you have are doing work that isn’t worth their time, and you can’t afford to hire someone else to do it. The aim is to give those hours back, not to remove the person.

Do I have to buy the implementation afterwards?

No. Roughly a third of the report is usually things you can set up yourself in an afternoon, and I’ll say which ones. If you want me to build the bigger pieces that’s a separate conversation with a separate price, and it only happens if you ask.

Do you have to be in Jersey?

No — the whole thing works over video. I’m Jersey-based and I prefer to meet local clients in person, but nothing about the audit needs us in the same room.

How long does the whole audit take?

About a week end to end. The call is 45 minutes, the report comes back within a few working days, and the review call is 30 minutes. Your total time in it is around an hour and a quarter.

What happens to my business information?

It stays between us. I don’t share client details, I don’t use your business as an example without asking first, and I’ll sign an NDA before the call if you’d prefer — just say so when you book.

Next step

Book the 45 minutes.

No pitch, no slides. We go through your week, and by the end of it you’ll know whether there’s five hours a week in there. If there isn’t, I’ll tell you on the call and it won’t cost you anything.

Pick a time

I answer everything myself, usually the same day. Based in Jersey; happy to come to you if you’re on the island.
